Plata America

Our Project

Plata America’s La Navarra project is located approximately 50 km to the south west of Zacatecas city, in Zacatecas State, Mexico. It lies in the famous silver belt, “La Faja de Plata”, which has been responsible for the majority of Mexico’s silver production, however large amounts of gold, copper, lead and zinc are also found throughout the area. The site is approximately 4.5 km from the town of Villanueva, which is the administrative capital of the Municipality of Villanueva. The site has excellent access to strong transport and communications infrastructure.

The project site covers approximately 11,000 hectares and has known mineralization throughout the project. The mineralization at La Navarra occurs as an aggregation of metasomatic and epithermal deposits with superior silver containing veins, breccias and stockworks. The La Navarra project mineralization is comprised of concentrations of silver, gold, lead and zinc.

Plata America began detailed and systematic exploration of the La Navarra project site in November 2012, which included surface and underground surveying and sampling. Two phases of drilling have been completed to date for over 26,000 meters.

Plata America is focusing its exploration and development efforts on the large volume targets within the project zone, while also preparing for the overall integration of all of the projects deposits. An aggressive exploration and development program is underway by Plata America, which includes construction of access ramps, underground workings and the carrying out of geophysical investigations. Plata America’s drilling program for 2015 is budgeted at 9,000 meters.
